Acrobat DC error "There is a problem with this page" in nearly every document I open

Hello, I get this lengthy, well documented error message almost every time I open a document sent from all sorts of users in all sorts of countries. I normally get the display right by clicking "View", "Display two pages" and then switching back to single page scrolling. However, I am really tired of doing this all of the time. In addition to this lengthy error message, I also have trouble getting Acrobat DC print out a portrait format document as such, as it often tries to make it landscape -- while my print preferences are set to portrait. My version of Acrobat DC is up to date and I use Windows.
I would so like to have this fixed. Thanks for your input!
