I have a windows 2016 server that is not joined to a domain. Office 365 is installed along with Chrome and Firefox browsers.
When installing the latest version of Acrobat DC from the creative cloud, the installer fails with "Error 1321. The installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\ActiveX\SelectPageRange.ocx
When I go to the path, the folder exists, but is empty. The owner is assigned as "SYSTEM"
I have gone to the path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe" and changed the owner to be "Administrators", and replaced on entire path, verified that this took, and verified that "Administrators" has full control.
When I run the installer again, I see the folders fill with files until it reaches 77%, and then it rollsback the installation, with the error message above, and the owner has been changed to system again.

I don't know about a server edition, but what sometimes helps in regular Windows is to right click the EXE and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR in the pop up window

I should have added that was the method I was using. Not only am I logged in as the administrator, but I am also running as administrator.
The installer should be smart enough to elevate, and appears that it is. I don't understand what could be changing the ownership of the folders. There are no group policies in place, as this is a very clean install, with only office365 (monthly channel) installed along with Firefox, Chrome, and java.

If you have any backup and antivirus programs, try to disable them temporarily.

No Antivirus. No backups, nothing besides the listed programs. I just created a clean machine, and downloaded from web. The initial install with a July version works, but trying to run the updates I get the same error.
It appears as the latest updates are broken. Also the latest cloud download installation fails as well trying to do a clean installation.
