Acrobat DC Pro: "Find" function won't highlight, just puts found text out of focus

Community Beginner ,
Oct 20, 2019 Oct 20, 2019

When I search through a large .pdf for a specific word, instances of the word are not highlighted within the text, as has been the case in the past. Instead, the word is put out of focus. I have a really hard time finding the word, and I want to restore the highlight as a default. My highlighter function works fine. Appreciate any help.

Hey,

Greetings! Sorry to hear that you are facing issues with the Find Tool.

It would be great if you could help us with a few queries that will help us in further investigating the bug:

  • What is the version of Acrobat Reader DC or Acrobat Pro DC that you are using?
  • Could you please share the files for which you’re facing the issue so that we can try to reproduce the issue at our end?
  • Could you please confirm that this issue is happening with that specific file or with other files also?
  • If you're unable to share the document with us, could you please share a screeen recording of the workflow?
  • Also, please can you confirm that issue is happening on some other machine, if you’ve one with you?

For getting the version of application (Adobe Acrobat Reader)

  1. Click on 'Help' menu in application.
  2. Click on 'About Adobe Acrobat Reader DC…'

Please follow the steps to share the files using DC Cloud - https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/send/

  1. Open this link
  2. Click on “Select files to Send”
  3. Click link "Choose file from my computer" and Select the file
  4. Click on "Add Files", if you have more files to add
  5. Click on Create link
  6. Share this link with us

Regards

Thank you for responding.

To answer your questions:

1.  I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC Version 2015.006.30503

2.  I'll share a file as soon as I send this reply.

3.  The problem occurs with all of my .pdf files that I use on Acrobat.

4.  In case I fail to upload the document correctly, here is a screen shot:

5.  I only have this version on this machine (MacBook Pro), which is my primary computer. I also have Acrobat DC Pro on my MacAir, and that is Acrobat Pro DC version 2015.006.30493. That is operating properly. When I search, the term is highlighted blue and is easy to locate. I'll try to share the document now.

Again, I appreciate your help with this problem.

This sample is 25 pages, but I am commonly working with documents that are 1,000 pages.

Hey,

Thanks for sharing the files. The files you've shared seem to be OCR'd files. Could you please share similar raw (Non-OCR'd) scanned files with us for further investigation.

Thanks
