Is there a way to turn off advance/back clicking in an interactive pdf? I have a document with multiple buttons which I want to force the user to use to navigate the document. Any help much appreciated.

Short answer: no, unless the document contains only one page.

Long answer: you can simulate several pages in single page document by using show/hide layers or by spawning/deleting pages templates.

Isn't it possible with an opening page level script checking the action is coming from a button?

Yes, but all you need to do is disable JS and it won't work any longer...

...and for using the file with a pad too.
I often forget this notion...
But if the file must be used with 5-6 year children that could work 😉
