this is an intermittent problem on mu Mac Pro. The file can be on the desktop, dock or in the finder. After start up, close Acrobat and then reopen and it fixes. This  is a. real pain.

Hi Ron

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described Acrobat does not open file when double clicking.

Would you mind sharing the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the latest version installed. Go to Help > Check for Updates and  reboot the computer once.

If it still doesn't work, please try to reset the Acrobat preferences to default as described in the help page - https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there and check.

Hi Amal

Its OK now. I had version 2020.013.20064.
Cretive Cloud said this was up to date but I was unsure given the black icon. I check3ed for update in the app as you suggestede and sure enough, there was 2021.001.20155.

Can’t think why Creative Cloud said it was Up to date.

Thanks very much for your help
