Acrobat Edit Tool adding second underline to Hyperlinks

New Here ,
Dec 07, 2021 Dec 07, 2021

I've edited pdfs int he past using the Edit Tool, but today for some reason it's adding a second rule to my Hyperlink rule. The file opens fine, but when I open the TOOLS, it adds the line - and it remaoins there when I save or view in ORGANIZE. Don't get it.

I essentuially have a double underline. I can't process this file this way. Anyone have a simlar issue or solution?

Hmm,

You're in the right place!  You would use the hyperlink tool to create a link in Acrobat.  This doesn't affect the text on a page, but instead identifies a rectangle (visible or invisible - your choice) that will be the actual 'hotsot' that will take the mouse click.

If you highlight text, and right-click to choose Create Link, the same event happens, basically.  You are creating a box into which someone will click.

In either case, it does not create an underline for the text.  You would do that manually as a text edit. Are you adding an underscore to text that is already underlined manually?

My best,

Dave

Thanks Dave -

Some background may be helpful. I inheritred the pdf that was missing the original source file. I was able to open the file and make an edit without affecting the "look and feel" of the Hyperlink- resaved the pdf. Went into the file again to make an additional edit - went into the TOOLS > EDIT functionality - all my Hyperlinks visibly changed. They all now had double stroke underlines rather than single-stroke.

I DID go into the screen you show above (as mentioned in the original post) - clicked on the Add/Edit link - as you illustrate. However, ALL those options didn't work as expeceted. For example, the Rectang Visible option was checked. (but it wasn't visible). When I clicked InVisible, it became visible. Weird, and a little maddening. I wound up importing the pdf into AI and making the edits there - which was interesting because some of them were structural.

So - I solved my problem, but only temporarily. I guess noone has had a similar experience then?

Appreciate the feedback!
