Acrobat Has Crashed ...

Hello All,

I use Adobe Acrobat Pro 64-bit daily at work. EVERY single time I open a pdf, it pops up an error box that says, "Acrobat has crashed" ... but it HAS NOT. My pdf is open just fine, and I still get the pop-up. It's quite annoying to have to close the dialog box multiple times every day. Any idea why it's doing this? Or how to stop it? TIA

Susan

Hi @Susan Loncar Design

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.08.20470 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://adobe.ly/3HDTUkk and check.

I have the same problem. Same version. It's quite annoying, and only started for me after the latest update. I'll try the recommendations.

I did the repair step and it seems better so far. However I wasn't able to create a new Preferences Folder. Good luck!

The repair seems to have helped! It reported the fake crash a few times, then I tried to restart the computer, and once it came back up, it didn't report the crash any longer. So far, so good.

It's back. Every time I double-click to open a pdf, Acrobat reports that it has crashed. It's very annoying, but I guess I have to live with it. It could be worse. Like being unable to revert to the old Acrobat UI/UX.
