I must have set a setting that I didn't understand all it's implications and I can't find a way to undo it.
When I double-click a PDF, it opens in Acrobat, but then Acrobat opens 33 (literally) other PDFs. These are all PDFs I opened at one time or another recently, but I did not have them all open at once.
After Acrobat opened all these PDFs (in 33 separate tabs), I figured I better close most of them to prevent this from happening again. However, in the tab for each document, there is no "X" to close the file. I right-clicked the tab and selected the option "Close Tab;" however it did not close. I tried this on a few other PDFs; none of them closed.
Then when I clicked the tab of the first document I tried to close, the display was dark gray. After that, Acrobat froze. I couldn't switch tabs, close a PDF, or edit Preferences to try and prevent this behavior. I have to go to Task Manager and close EVERY task that has anything to do with Adobe, including Background Processes, and then all open PDF's and the app close.
However, when I open another PDF, the same thing occurs.
I tried Edit ==> Preferences as well as Ctrl+K, but nothing happened. So I am stuck with this unworkable situation. Anyone have a solution?
