Acrobat preflight custom fixups are damaged

New Here ,
Jun 07, 2023 Jun 07, 2023

Since moving from an imac to a mac studio all my preflight droplets have stopped working. When ever i drop a file into them i get a error message saying "Droplet" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the bin. This file was downloaded on an unknown date." I have also tried to create the custom profile fixup from scratch but i still get the same error.  These droplets are still working on my old imac but i need to get them moved to my new mac studio asap.

ChatGPT for the win!

I've had this issue for a couple of years now and no forum answer ever worked. Chatgpt suggested a few things, and first suggestion worked!

"When Photoshop droplets suddenly start throwing that error, it’s usually related to a macOS security update or system permissions issue. Here are a few things you could try to resolve it:

1. Gatekeeper (macOS Security) Settings:

macOS has a security feature called Gatekeeper, which sometimes blocks apps or files that are from unknown sources, or not digitally signed.

  • Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
  • Go to the General tab.
  • Look for a message that says something like "Droplet (or app name) was blocked from opening because it is from an unidentified developer."
  • If you see that, click Open Anyway.

After doing that, try opening your droplet again. If Gatekeeper has been blocking it, this could fix the issue."

Hi @Nathan30343458j9mh, When I moved from my iMac to my Studio, I didn't have any droplets to move, so I didn't encounter this. Putting forth a guess, have you done Apple's Access to Acrobat? I'm placing the instructions here on the chance you did not do this AND that this is the issue. (I'm guessing that between Apple and Acrobat, the dynamic of droplets, and the access issue, the wording of that error is strange.

Please substitute Acrobat for Bridge here.

Go into the System Preferences and select the Privacy & Security tab on the left. Note that there are two options on the right you'll need to deal with: "Files and Folders," and "Full Disk Access."

First, going into Files and Folders, note that in various years of different releases of Adobe Bridge, different needs are needed. I do not know why this is, but it's always better to check and make sure that just because you did it for one release, you may or may not need it for a subsequent release.

Lastly, go into the Full Disk Access option. If you do not see your application in the list, click on the "+" symbol at the very bottom of the window. This will bring up a standard Finder window. Navigate to your Applications Folder, find Adobe Bridge, and add it to the list (You will need to add your Administrator's password to do this.). Then you can "switch" it to the "ON" position.

Hopefully, this may solve your problem.

Please let us know if that works or not.

Hi gary_sc

I have given Adobe Acrobat full access to files and folder and full disk but the same thing is still happening when I tray to use a droplet that I have created on my desktop.

I have even tried creating a new custom preflight check from scratch and creating a new droplet for that and it sill gives the same error message.

I'm with Gary, tried these steps and it doesn't work. Still says damaged, move to trash. Has anyone gotten droplets to work with the new acrobat?
