Acrobat Pro for MacBooks does not display pdf due to bug in current version - known bug

Community Beginner ,

Last week, when I tried to open certain pdfs using Acrobat Pro for Mac it would not display the text - just the header and some formatting lines and bullet points etc. I could open the documents fine in other apps (e.g. Preview and Google Chrome), and it was fine in Acrobat Pro for Windows.

I discussed this with an Adobe professional last Friday, who was very helpful. He told me it was a known bug that would be remedied in the next version. He told me it could be fixed for now by reverting to the previous version, which he patiently set up for me through gaining remote viewer access to my machine. It took quite a while, as some large files had to be downloaded and various settings/files had be removed or altered. This seemed to fix the problem.

However, the problem has re-appeared today (the following Monday). This is very frustrating. Adobe needs to fixed this as soon as possible, as my subscription is useless in the mean time.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Thanks. You are correct that the site is not easy to navigate. Who'd have thought the 'community bugs' site is not the place to report bugs!

Hello Paul!

I hope you are doing well. We apologize for the trouble you experienced. The Product team is aware of the issue and is working to identify the root cause. A fix will be available soon.

Could you please share the PDF file where the fonts are missing? This will help us with further investigation.

Attached is one example of a pdf that does not display correctly using Acrobat Pro on Mac, but is fine in other apps including Acrobat Pro for Windows. It was created by exporting a Markdown file to pdf using Microsoft’s Visual Studio Code (with the Markdown PDF extension) - a very common procedure I would imagine. The same problem occurs with all such exports.
