Acrobat Pro freezing Issue: Internal error and toolbar icon missing

Community Beginner ,
Mar 21, 2023 Mar 21, 2023

As of yesterday, my Acrobat Pro started acting up. Screens are freezing, "internal errors" keep coming up, toolbar icons are not all visible. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, but same issues are occurring. Any assistance would be appreciated.

What's the exact version number of the application (You can find it out by going to Help - About Adobe Acrobat)? What's your OS version?

I'm having similar problems as of yesterday. The most frustrating is you can't open a PDF by double clicking the document. You have to open Adobe - file - open and then it will open.

This is happening with Adobe Acrobat Pro and Stand version = Continous Release | Version 2022.003.20310 | 64bit

Thanks for any help!

I have the same problems. I have uninstall/re-install Adobe Acrobat Pro multiple times and also the Creative Cloud to see if it fix it. I'm still having issues with just Acrobat Pro.

Hi Stuart CawTXFSB, and RipeBananas,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble caused.

As the application crashes and hangs on launch, please try the troubleshooting steps suggested in the following help document: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-crashes-on-windows-os.html.

If that does not help, try removing the application and running the cleaner tool (https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html).

Reboot the machine and install Acrobat Pro from the following page: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html.

If the issue still occurs, share the Acrobat and OS versions on the machine.

We may require logs for the crash. For crash logs, use the following steps: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/collect-logs-crash-freeze.html

Thanks,

Meenakshi

None of those help fixing my problem, unfortunately.

I couldn't get any of these to work. However, my IT guy managed to sort it by clearing out my system and reloading.

I found this link and it help me with my issue. Installing the 32-bit version worked for me.

How did you get the 32bit version installed? When I try the program goes through the motion and then when you think it is almost finished the installer reverts and removed everything. Then a "failed installation" message comes up and the logs don't tell me anything that makes sense as to why?

Thanks!

Try running the Acrobat Cleaner tool prior to install the 32-bit version to get rid of all the previous installed files in your computer. I just followed the installation instructions from that link including the use of the cleaner tool and did not get any issues when installing it. That's the best advice I can give you (I'm not an IT person).
