Acrobat Pro hangs if connected to the internet

New Here ,
Jul 04, 2025 Jul 04, 2025

Running Acrobat PRO freshly loaded as part of CS6 shuts down once I try to open a file or use it in any way. However I can open files and use it IF I first disconnect the computer from the internet. All other apps on CS6 work normally (photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator etc).

This off line work-around works for a while and then acrobat Pro fails to open at all. It looks as if Acrobat Pro is not activating properly while all the other apps are activated normally.
I would be extremely grateful for advice on how to fix this.

Hi @Desmond2811597638rq

Thank you for reaching out, and we’re sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing with Acrobat Pro from CS6.

Just to clarify, Acrobat X (version 10.x), which shipped with Creative Suite 6, has been officially End of Support since October 2015. This means:

  • It no longer receives updates or security fixes.

  • It may experience instability or compatibility issues, especially when connected to the internet or running on modern operating systems.

Also, what you describe seems to indicate there is an activation issue. Try the following: if this is an activation issue related to Acrobat, it may get fixed.

- Close Acrobat.

- Search for Distiller on your machine and launch it from the apps or start menu.

- Keep it launched for a minute or two; if there is an activation issue, it will throw the prompt. Your machine should be connected to the internet for that.

Also, check this help document: https://adobe.ly/4nMZ0hY;

And wait for more inputs from the experts.
