Acrobat Pro (mac) goes unresponsive at 5p ET - I'm not kidding

I work in Acrobat Pro everyday, starting around noon, until 7p or so ET.  At 5p, it suddently goes unresponsive.  I can't open a file.  I have to restart my computer to get it back.

Funnily, today, it quit at 4p ET... which seems to mean that whatever time zone it's on is NOT on daylight savings.

What is happening?

Check whatever program starts regularly at 5pm. There is not built-in evening aplication in Acrobat to stop working at a certain time.

I had similar issues in the past, where a virus scan, some auto-update or backup would kick-in at 'off-peak' times automatically.
