Acrobat Pro text select cursor size

Not sure how to explain this but when I select text the selcted region is like half of the page. I tried to redact a word and it made a giant black rectangle. its like the font select thinks the font is size 500 but the actual text is 10. Any thoughts?

It's an OCR thing. We do a freestyle box to avoid this issue  (hold ctl + redact)
