Recently Acrobat reader hangs when I open some PDF files. I have tried them on two different computers. One running Windows 10 and a brand new laptop running Windows 11. I have many old PDF files which used to open correctly, but now some, but not all, hang up when I try to open them. Older files open fine, but ones created in the last 4-5 years do not open. It does not seem to be file size related.
The files open correctly using a browser or Foxit. And they open if I generate the PDF using PrimoPDF instead of using the export PDF option in the word processor. However, Primo does not generate Internet links and the files are much larger. It may be related to the imbedded Internet links.
This only started happening in the last month or so.
Attached is a sample file.

Hi there,
Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.
What happens when you try to open the PDF file, do you get any error message? If yes, please share the screesnhot of the same for more clarity?
What is the version of the OS and the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 24.02.20857 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.
Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.
Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here (https://adobe.ly/4eWcHqq) and see if that works.
Note: web browsers use their own PDF mechanism to render the PDF files and they are not Adobe dependent.
