Acrobat stalls during app load

Community Beginner ,
Jun 29, 2023 Jun 29, 2023

Installed latest version of Adobe acrobat pro from cloud account.

When i ran the app after install completed, the app froze as it was starting.

As seen in the screenshot, it locks when trying to load a modal / info page of some sort - it doesnt populate with anything, just freezes moments later.

No error alerts etc, in fact no clues at all and no means to close or interact with the open app other than shutting it down using task manager.

Attempted multiple times with same out come.

Removed app and tried again, same outcome.

I have other adobe products installed which are operational

The issue has rendered this app unusable.

Screenshot attached, although minimal help i guess.

Thoughts on a fix?

Hi @paulc89302236

Thanks for sharing the screenshot.

  • If I get this right, you see this screen while opening/viewing a file in Acrobat. Is that correct?

If yes, then try this:

1- On Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences > General.

2- Clear the check box for the following options:

  • Show online storage when opening files
  • Show online storage when saving files

3- OK, close and reopen the application.

If nothing works, then.

Run this cleaner tool to remove the existing installer and application’s file traces:

https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html

Download the Acrobat installer from here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html

Let us know the result.

Thanks,

Akanchha
