Acrobat X Pro CS6 - not accepting valid serial number

Hi, I upgraded to a new laptop with Windows 11. The rest of my CS6 works fine, but the Adobe Acrobat X Pro never played. It creates the file but I can't open a pdf. The message is that my trial has run out and when I put in my serial number, nothing happens - ie the process stops and I still can't open pdfs.

I looked into an update - Acrobat Pro 2017 installer - but it says I must uninstall my current version and I'm not even sure if my serial number would be acceptable.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled from the disk. No improvement.

Is there a way to solve this please? Many thanks.

Acrobat X is an old and unsupported version, and is not officially compatible with any current OS, so problems are to be expected.
To increase the chances of it working properly make sure you have all updates installed (up to 10.1.16) and run it in Compatibility Mode with an earlier OS, like Windows 7.
You can't purchase an upgrade to Acrobat 2017. Adobe doesn't sell that version any longer. The current versions are Acrobat DC or Acrobat 2020, and your version is too old to qualify for an upgrade license to either, so you'll need to purchase a new license if you wanted to upgrade.

Actually, there never was a reduced price upgrade from Acrobat when it was part of a suite. The suite could be upgraded (but CS6 is end of the line). So to separately upgrade Acrobat has always required paying full price.
