Acrobat X Pro staples multiple copies into one packet

Guest

I just installed Adobe Pro X and find that when I set it to print two sets stapled in the printer, it does that - but it staples both sets together. The only thing that has changed is the upgrade to this level - my Acrobat 9 Pro handled stapled sets just fine.

Is this a bug others have found or is there a setting somewhere to place a marker to tell the printer to end one job, staple it and begin the next set?

To print multiple sets and have the printer staple each set (instead of stapling them together), you can do the following:

In either Acrobat Pro X or Reader X
-- select File/Print from the menu to bring up the print dialogue box
-- select the desire printer (if other than default)
-- click on "Properties" button
-- Go to the "Output" tab and select the stapling option desired
-- click on the "Advanced tab"
-- click on the + next to "Paper/Output"
-- click on "1 Copy" and update the number to the desire number of copies
-- make sure the "Collated" box is checked (if not, click on it to check it)
-- click ok (to exit properties dialogue box)
-- click ok to print
Note that the exact dialogue you see will depend on the printers/drivers you have.
The problem seems to be disconnect between Adobe and the collated sets handling of the printer.  To see how this is true, look at the print dialogue box just prior to clicking "ok" to print.  In older versions of the software you'd see that "copies" and "collate" options on the print dialogue box have been updated after doing the steps above.  In the new versions, they are not.  However if you print at this point (without changing the copies or collate options on the print dialogue), you will get your individually printed sets at the printer.  Of course if Adobe worked correctly, updates to the copies and collate option in the print dialogue box would get passed to the print driver, but apparently that isn't happening.

We have the same issue.

Adobe X staples multiple jobs as one batch.  Our users have to open and print their jobs from Adobe Reader 9 to staple correctly.

We tried a number of printers and they all function the same (stapling everything together).  Adobe appears to be controlling the stapling instead of letting it default to the printer.

Yes, I have seen the same problem.  The problem is not fixed in version 10.0.1.  This affects Adobe Reader as well.  I will have to uninstall X and install Adobe Reader 9 on those desktops who are having the problem.

Thank you.  This worked perfectly.  I didn't realize that printer control was available.  Good to know as it might help with other issues.

That proposed solution did not work for me.  I set the number of copies at 2 and the collate box was automatically checked. The sets are collated but they are stapled as one document.

Any other solutions?  I have version 10.0.3

This also did not work for me. I'd like to print 50 copies of a set and staple each individual document. I have 50 copies and the collated box checked even in my print settings. It is printing 50 copies of each individual document and not collating as a set. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem in Acrobat Pro. Has anyone else found new solutions? Even when I select the copies in the printer dialogue box it still staples all copies together.
