Acrobat X Std - Crop margin options grayed out

Explorer ,
Nov 19, 2010 Nov 19, 2010

My scanner creates 8.5x14" scans which in Acrobat 9 I just cropped to 8.5x11" by selecting "Constrain Proportions" and setting "Bottom:" to 3".

When I try the same thing with Acrobat X, the entire Crop page is grayed out. I've looked and can't find a configuration problem. What am I missing?

Hi ,

Please update your Acrobat X Std. to 10.1.0 either by clicking Help > Check for Updates (from within the application) or download and install the patch from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5135&fileID=4771

The issue is resolved in Acrobat 10.1.0

Hopefully this should resolve the issue.

Cropping HAS INDEED improved in 10.1.0. I still have to use the crop tool to

make an initial selection. But now when I double-click on the cropped area,

I get the crop dialog - and the margins can be changed (no longer grayed

out).

Thanks for the fix.

Jim

Jim:

You're right:  It works.  But I did not have to use the crop tool to make the initial selection.  I just entered Shift/Ctrl/t, and the crop window popped up.  Then I navigated to the margin(s) that I wanted to crop and the range of pages I wanted to include.  When I was done, I hit [Enter] and that document was trimmed.  And it if turned out I went through that dialog just a bit too quickly, then thang cod 4 Ctrl/z!

HitenderPrakash:

Thank you very much for sharing the solution you found.  Though I still have Windows Vista, I hope that updating to 10.1.0 will cure the problem.  If it does, I can't very well remain RFTorqued (generates too many free radicals), so I will have to change my screen name.

woodp:

Because I still run Windows Vista and do not have QuickBooks installed, the only condition of your experiment that I could duplicate would be to reinstall Acrobat X Std.; however, now that HitenderPrakash has suggested updating to 10.1.0, I will try that first.  I hope that my running Vista, rather than Seven, will not prevent the fix from working.  Meanwhile, I remain provisionally (though somewhat mollified)
