A few days ago while viewing a .PDF Acrobat Pro X abruptly disappeared. Since then, it will no longer start under any circumstance. Win 7 x64
Tried the following.
1.) Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features, Adobe Acrobat X Pro - English, Francais, Deutsch, Change, Repair. - *No Change in Behavior. Program will not start *
2.) Attempted the following suggestions found here:
http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/error-pdf-creation-cannot-continue.html
Solution 2 did nothing. Solution 3 prompted me to enter my Acrobat X Pro serial number. I entered my CS6 Master Collection serial number that was emailed to me by Adobe. It told me I have an incorrect serial number and would not allow me to continue.
Adobe - I ask that you please look into this issue as soon as possible and post a fix. I have almost 3 hours tied up into trying to resolve this issue as I can no longer open any .PDF file on my machine. I also see countless other posts on the same issue with no permanent resolve.
Thank you.

For all the users who have faced a problem where Acrobat did not launch after 30 days of serializing with a suite serial number, please execute the following workaround:
After this if you launch Acrobat it will launch and run forever without trouble. In case you still face a problem , try relaunching the other CS6 app once more and then launch Acrobat.
This will fix the problem and if done correctly by following the steps, you will NOT need to repeat the steps after 30 days
Please note:
1.Uninstall and reinstall will NOT fix the problem.
2.Deleting cache or renaming is NOT a solution as it will cause unintended side effects.
In case you face a problem like recurrence after 30 days, please send me a message so that I can help you get the steps corrected.

I also have the same problem. This is the 3rd time since I installed CS6 that it just stopped working. The first two times I had to uninstall, this last time I tried the suggestion of deleting the cache database file (located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\cache) and Acrobat fired right up afterwards. I still had to re-enter my serial number, which is a major pain, but at least I didn't have to re-install again which is more of a pain!
ADOBE - Fix this!!!
**UPDATE** Less than 30 minutes after posting this, Adobe Acrobat Prp stopped working again!

The irony is that someone has posted a reply dated June 15 as "Correct".
See the post immediately following the parent of this thread.
Don't know who decides on "Correct" or why they would think the "solution" posted would be considered correct.
I sure don't. "Correct" is for a CS6 bug to be corrected, that is, fixed.
Maybe if the post were titled "Ugly work-around that sometimes works"...
Anybody got pull with Adobe powers that be?
Posting pleas in this thread... looks futile...

I uninstalled CS5.5 and CS6, then reinstalled CS6- problem still occurs. Ugly work around is to keep replacing the DB file EVERY DAY. Adobe are you going to fix this bug?

That's what I'm doing, replacing the DB file with a good copy every day or two. It's a pain!! I'm stunned that there is no official word from Adobe on this issue and what they are doing to resolve it.

Presumably the update that I got the other day has fixed this prob. I haven't had to accept a trial, enter my s/n, or download Reader X to open a pdf since, which brings me to suggest that Acrobat should possibly behave like Reader (but with 'Pro'fessional features greyed out? until it gets its full licence activated). It is/was immensely frustrating to have a product that costs 532GPB completely dead in the water and having other peeps using free products all day long laughing about it.

I am having exactly the same problem......................only noticed when I tried to open a PDF that someone sent me. Acrobat X is simply not responding. This is very irritating to quite a number of people by the sound of things...............I have not seen any comments from Adobe (have I missed something?)
Creative Suite Design & Web
Windows 7 64

I now have an answer that works for me for the Creative Suite Design & Web Premium - CS 6 (I cannot speak for other variuations).
It was thanks to a nice Man in India somewhere (Adobe Technical Support)
1 Open Photoshop (or other Application in the Suite)
2 De-activate Photoshop (or opened Suite Application)
3 Close Photoshop........you know the drill
4 Re-open Photoshop (or other Suite Applicatioin) ........You might be asked to Log On or enter the "Activation Key" for the Suite
5 Open Acrobat Pro X..............You will be asked to Log On or enter the "Activation Key" for the Suite
6 The problem has gone..................for now!!
7 It works, but I have no idea what comes next..................Good Luck to all who have encountered this problem.

I'm having the same issue however my problem did not start until I updated CS6.
I rolled back my system image and it worked fine.
I tried to run the Adobe CS6 updates and Acrobat stopped working again.
Please Adobe, we've paid good money for this.
Help!

Okay I had several critical documents I needed to get to. Thank god I had my I PAD and I was able to access the documents in a timely fashion. I am reading these posts and am
A) Glad I am not alone
B) Really upset that this occurs (If it makes you feal better I have 550 seats)
C) Conerned that I may have to do this on all our computers. WHO WILL PAY FOR MY LOSS PRODUCTIVITY?
I think I will be calling Adone in short order. This is very upsetting. If Adobe monitors these posts it would be my suggestion they chime in here.... just another reason to go away from Adobe products....

I'm having the same issue. I've tried every workaround mentioned and nothing works. I can take the pdf in question and open it up on an older computer but not on this one. Master Collection CS5.5 worked great. I need my head examined for upgrading.
Adobe chat support people are more concerned with trying to be polite rather than solve issues.
This is the first time I've ever made a huge purchase from them and will probably be the last.
Note to Adobe executives: When you get back from vacation in the Bahamas, Hawaii, or wherever the hell you take your vacations, you need to get on this. This is NOT OK! Are you guys trying to become the next Netflix?!
I'm willing to bet that if we affected your productivity like you're affecting ours that it would NOT be OK to offer you a workaround. FIX IT!
~Very angry and frustrated.

I subscribed to Photoshop CS6 with a 1 year subscription.
I subscribed to Acrobat x with a 1 year subscription via separate transaction.
Acrobat X has stopped working, and when I try the "Deactivate" fix suggested by many, I find that the "Deactivate" command is greyed out in Photoshop. SO WHAT THE HECK DO YOU DO NOW?

Based on what I've seen here you should just sit at your desk and pull your hair out. It doesn't look like Adobe is going to fix this anytime soon.

Come on, Adobe, is right!! This bug has been going on for months with no word back from Adobe on what, if anything, they are doing to resolve it!! It's just unacceptable, giving the price paid for CS6 Master Collection, to have one of it's programs contantly failing to respond! Adobe, you need to release a statement of some sort and let us know that at least you're working on this!

I just posted something on their facebook wall. Maybe if we took this issue public we might be more likely to get a response. https://www.facebook.com/adobeacrobat?ref=ts

I just wrote my second personal letter to the President of Adobe. He ignored the first one, so I don't expect much, but maybe, just maybe, this will be the one that gets past all the people who are protecting him from actual contact with his customers. Unfortunately, this is one of the leading edge indicators that a company is focused more on pleasing Wall Street than delivering customer value.

I just got off chat with tech support. I've only wasted about 5 hours with them since I got their product. This reminds me of an old Mac problem from long ago. They put something out in order to please their investors before it was ready for the market.
Anyway, I had to share my desktop with them. You might want to try the deactivate - activate suggestion from a few posts ago. THEN, remove adobe reader. The tech said it might be causing the conflict...
Good luck to everyone on this. I hope you get your issues resolved.

Hello ilikelocal,
For what it is worth Reader and Pro is a bad combination. However there are reasons you have to have both or maybe there is an installation order. However I do not have both on my computer.
My issue started after an update.
I have warned my team if there is an issue wha tthe steps are to take to fix it. However if we do I will be calling support.
This is like Adobe Flash issues from years prior they push things out the door before they are baked. No wonder Apple is gaining ground. We are dropping Adobe from our curriculm as much as we can. Too expensive and to many problems.
Sorry just the facts.

I really don't like Adobe right now. I cannot imagine how painful it is for you guys with multiple seats.
I'm posting on their fanpage right now.

@Amrita- this is not a solution- does not work: problem returns. A software patch is required to fix this issue.

I kept silent for about two months and followed this thread.
Let's hope there is a solution but frankly, why does it take so long for Adobe to react to this? I know we're not the only ones having problems. After reinstalling my own problems with Acrobat were solved but I know of people who have to reinstal every day. So something is clearly wrong. Even if it is a machine setting: these users did not change that setting themselves or they would know about it. I suppose installing the suite has done something to the machine it was installed on and that this is causing the problems.
My personal extra problem with searchfilterhost was 'solved' after reinstalling Acrobat, by the way. I no longer have the error after shutting down Photoshop either. The error does sometimes appear while I am using one of the Adobe products from the suite. Something is going on here and I hope Adobe will fix it.

This is a joke, i see you can get paid support for what??? Acrobat is not working on 3 computers (proper legal versions on each) it just keeps shutting down. ??? Sorry but the better business bureau is next, i want refunds on all 3 copies!
