Action Wizard - Printing multiple PDFs

New Here ,
Jan 04, 2022 Jan 04, 2022

In the Action Wizard I created a new print action under More Tools, Print.  I unchecked the box Prompt User.  But when I load my 200 PDFs file from a folder and hit Start, it processes each PDF on my screen and ties up my computer so I cannot use any other program.  I cannot minimize either.  How do I get it to print multiple PDFs without processing each one on my screen, one by one?

Merge the files, then print that single file.

they are individual client statements that are stapled so it cannot be one continous file.

If you printed 200 individual files, won't you still end up with a big stack of paper in the printer tray? Printing as one large file would give you the same result.

Some printers can staple pages automatically, but they do it based on the print command, so if you only have one print command for the entire file you can't staple the individual parts of it.

Our printer does not have print commands to merging them created one large file that was stapled and not the 4 individual files I needed stapled.  Is there a way to avoid having Adobe show the files processing?  that would eliminate tying up my computer.

No, Acrobat is not built to work like that.

>>Our printer does not have print commands

See if you can set up a folder on another system that you can drop your PDFs into. The other system can be set up to scan the folder for documents to print.

Another thought: After merging the file it's possible to use a script to send each X pages as a separate print command.

>>Some printers can staple pages automatically,...

True--I was checking to see if that is the issue or if it was just the spooling tying up the computer.

You could try merging all of the files into a Portfolio, this will give you the option to print the selected pdf in the portfolio or all pdfs, I don't know if this will skip the user prompt and add a staple, it's just a guess.
