Hello everyone,
For the life of me, I can't figure out how to increase character count for a form field. I did not create the form, but I'm trying to edit it to write however many words I need to convey my point.
I would greatly appreciate any help.

If there's a character limit to the field you'll find it under its Properties, in the Options tab:
You can increase that value or just tick off the check-box to disable this limitation entirely.
However, my guess is that's not the issue. Does it stop allowing you to enter more text when you reach the end of the field? If so, the issue is probably not a character limit but the font size. Either change it to Auto, or tick the "Scroll long text" box in the dialog above, and it will allow you to enter more text than what the field can show. The latter solution is not good if you want to print the file, though, as the overflowing text will not be printed. For that you should use the Auto font size, which will cause the font to become smaller as you enter more text, still fitting all of it in the visible area.

Thank you so much for that detailed response. Here's a little more information about my situation that may be relevant. I did not create this document, as it's an employment application I downloaded to my computer and would like to add additional lines of text before submitting it. That said, is there a way to change the character count of a text form field of a document I did not create?

If you have Acrobat and the file is not secured, then yes.

Be careful. There is a very good chancectgatvthecemploymentvspplication is going to be handled automatically. It's very possible that the things you type will be placed back into the original form, and so will be cut off. Your initiative may be risky.
