Adding a digital signature using Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 vs signing a PDF using Adobe Docusign

I have been using Adobe Acrobat to design and develop interactive PDF forms since its inception back in the 90's. I should also add that I have never relied upon a Facsimile machine to send a document as I have always believed faxing to be primitive, unreliable, and long overdue for extinction given recipient copies that were often blank, blurred and illegible back in the 90's. Enter converting MS Word and other documents to PDF and sending in an email file attachment and both reliability and legibility were no longer an issue. By the same token, I have also taken advantage of applying a digital signature to my PDF docs from the time the feature debuted in Adobe Acrobat. This noted, I recently completed a form that I converted to a fillable PDF using Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017, as I so often do for expedience and convenience, whereby I also added a digital signature as I have done countless times b4. However. much to my surprise, the organization or US Department of Education rejected my form stating that the digital signature was not created using Adobe and as such was unacceptable for no specific reason other than they would only accept a signature created/added by Adobe Docusign. As if this were not enough, attempting to explain how to verify that the digital signature was created in Adobe Acrobat and as such considered to be acceptable in a court of law, it soon became obvious regardless of the customer service rep I was speaking to that he/she was totally clueless whether I was explaining Adobe Acobat digital signatures or the legality thereof. All considered, this bears the question 'why on earth would someone like myself well versed in using Adobe Acrobat consider using Adobe Docusign instead to sign a PDF document'. While I can clearly see the need for someone who doesn't have Adobe Acrobat looking to purchase and use an application like Adobe Docusign to sign a PDF document, it makes absolutely no sense for someone like myself to purchase/use Adobe Docusign. Sorry for the elongated post but I have been unable to find any information on the internet to date relative to this subject matter. Thank you ahead of time.

There are digital signatures directly applied by Acrobat. There is an eSigning application by Adobe: "AdobeSign" (formerly "EchoSign"), and there is a 3rd party application for eSigning: "DocuSign". There is no "Adobe Docusign". Can you clarify your question?
