Adding text on top of text

I have the newest version of Adobe Acrobat - the non-colorful one released in April 2023 and I cannot figure out how to just add text on top of existing text (ie a form field) in the document. It wants to try to edit the existing text instead of adding new text on top of it. The whole menu is different and this is not self-explanatory. Help!

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the trouble.
Please go through the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/new-acrobat-experience.html for more information about the new UI and see if that works for you.

No, this page did not help at all. It only tells you where to find the 'add content' option, but not how to be able to add text on top of existing recognized text. Try it for yourself 🙂

Hi there
Is this an issue with a particular PDF form or with all the PDF forms? Does the PDF form include layers?
Please share the PDF file with us so that we can check it at our end.

This is an issue with all of the PDFs, not just one.

You're joking right? This is the response to that simple question - FIGURE IT OUT FOR YOURSELF? Why did you even respond?

To add form fields use the tool Prepare Form.

Hello, I'm not trying to add form fields. I'm trying to add text to a PDF document anywhere on the document.
