Hello, we tried everything. We repaired Acrobat and ran updates but the problem is still occurring. We tried looking on forums and Google to no avail. It only started recently and it doesn't always happen on the same file. But whenever this certain user saves a PDF it creates this weird second file in the same folder. When she double clicks on it, it opens up to a PDF that she just saved. Yet it doesn't show that it is a pdf file.

What is this??? How can we stop this from happening. It doesn't seem like a .TMP file.

EXACTLY what do you click, and select, to Save?
What exact version of Acrobat?

Our user has been saving files the same way. And this issue only started recently. She has Adobe Reader and Adobe Pro XI on her computer. From what I saw, she just goes "File > Save As" and it started creating this second weird copy in the same location as her newly saved PDF file.

Ok, both of these products are EOL (end of life). So Adobe haven't changed anything for years. But maybe the system has changed. Are these files saved to the local hard drive, or to a network drive?

Our user noticed it started occurring last week. And it is a network share. It's her very own network share folder that she is trying to save a copy to.

Hi There,
I am sorry to hear that, you are experiencing issues with Adobe Acrobat while saving the file.
As already described by "Test Screen Name" Adobe pro-XI is a end of life product (EOL) and because of security patches, updates and features are no longer available issues with EOL products are expected.
Could you please help us with the version of the Adobe Reader? To check the version of the product please refer to the link - Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC
In the meantime, you may try the following steps:
Keep us updated with the results
Regards,
Amal

Hello, our user has Adobe X and Adobe Reader DC. I did your Help > Repair Installation method so we will be monitoring to see if the issue still occurs.

It also never hurts to unplug everything connected to the Internet and the network to perform a thorough virus scan using a USB key method... you might be surprised of all the things you can miss when and if you skip a deep virus scan ( on each networked PC that is).

Hello,
Just curious if you resolved this issue.
I forgot to ask if you use Mac or Windows.
I also wanted to ask if the user is able to right-click on the file and check under the Properties tab what type of file extension it is defaulted to and which program (other than Adobe) is supposed to open that type of file.
Get ready! An upgraded Adobe Community experience is coming in January.
