Adobe Acrobat DC - HFT Error when signing documents

New Here ,
Mar 28, 2023 Mar 28, 2023

When I am digitally signing a form and attempting to save it, I am receiving the HFT error that the document is in use by another person. No other person or application is accessing the file at the times these files are attempting to be signed. This has happened to several team members!

I saw another post mention that a potential workaround is related to Dropbox and/or moving your signature and/or indexed folders. I'm not even sure what the last two "solutions" refer to, as I am not tech savvy; furthermore, we do not save the files in Dropbox, but on our internal server accessed via file explorer. We work for a government agency, if that helps.

Is anyone able to advise why this happens and if there is a fix?

I am able to produce this error for multiple computer in multiple states by creating a new blank page pdf, signing using the Windows Cert Store, and saving to any location using any file name.

Hi there

What is the version of the OS and the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 24.02.20857 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates.

Please share a small video recording of the steps and the issue occurring for more clarity. Also, would you mind collecting the Adobe CC logs https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html , Procmon logs (Win Only) https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/acromonitor.html and share them via any cloud storage. Just upload the log file to the cloud and generate the link and share that link with us for further investigation.

Regards
Amal
