Adobe Acrobat DC won't open files after waking MacBook Pro from sleep

Community Beginner ,

When I wake my computer up from sleep and try double-clicking on a PDF to open Acrobat DC does not respond. I have to quit the program and restart to open the file (and the file I attempted to open shows up first in the "recently opened" list). After restarting I can double click any file and it will open. This only happens after bringing computer out of sleep.

Hey Mina!

I hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble you had.

What is the current version of Acrobat DC installed? To identify, please take help from the article: Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

What is the version of the Mac OS installed?

Please make sure you have the latest version of Acrobat DC installed 20.009.20067 Optional update, June 02, 2020

Check for any pending updates from the help menu>select check for updates, reboot the machine after installing the updates and check.

For testing purposes, please disable the "Protected Mode at startup" from Acrobat>Preferences>Security(Enhanced)>uncheck the option>Click OK, restart the application and the machine if possible and check.

Also, create a test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account, install Acrobat, and check if Acrobat still not opening after you wake up the machine from sleep mode.

If the issue persists, please collect the logs of the affected machine and the user profile and share it with us for further investigation: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/collect-logs-crash-freeze.html

Let us know how it goes and share your observations.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

LATEST

I have the latest versions of both the operating system and Acrobat installed.

I tried to do step # 2: "For testing purposes, please disable the "Protected Mode at startup" from Acrobat>Preferences>Security(Enhanced)>uncheck the option>Click OK, restart the application and the machine if possible and check."  but when I went into security (enhanced) there was no checkbox for "protected mode at startup"  The only checkbox in that section was "enable enhanced security"
