Hi,

It looks like the Adobe Acrobat internet pmugin is bad.

Uninstall it from your browser and reinstall again.

There is a tendency for plugins that fail to update automatically when other apps update, so manual installtion is needed.

I have the same problem as the OP. but I can't access any of the tools, settings, etc. in Chrome.  Everything is completely locked up everytime I launch Chrome.  I need a way to delete the plugin without opening Chrome.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

If you suspect that the Chrome browser is the problem see some suggestions below:

  • Identify that you don't have different version of Acrobat and/or Reader install in your system. If you do, remove the older version
  • Also, according to Adobe Help guidance published back in 2018, if you uninstalled Adobe Reader before it will disable the extension. So if this was the case it may need manual reinstallation of the Chrome browser extension soon after you've reinstalled the Adobe Reader
  • In your windows 10, are you able to login with a different user account in the same computer (or create a new one for testing purposes) and see if you can open Chrome.

  • OR, try open from the built-in Administrator account or run as Administrator from the current user account.

  • Check in Settings, Notifications or Security settings , that the browser app is not blocked or  disabled

  • Uninstall from the Windows Control Panel, Programs and Features, Uninstall a Program

If none of that works, or is related to your issue, and the problem is manifesting for every account in that system  then follow these other suggestion:

  • open File Explorer, and in the view options enable to show hidden files and then follow tgis other approach:

(Just trying to rule out if  it is related to a  system wide setting  that is affecting that user account and blocking the browser app  from executing at all.)

So navigate here:

C:\Users\[login_name]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions

  • and manually delete the adobe reader extension from that directory.

  • If Chrome browser still misbehaves  or freeze the next time you try to open, uninstall it and  go to the Chrome website  and download it again.

Follow this guidance:
