Whenever one of our users opens a PDF file and tries to save it, she receives an error:
"The file may be read-only or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder"
There is nobody else who has the document open and it is not a read-only file.
We have tried different solutions:
- Turning of the preview panel in explorer
- Turning protective mode off
- Adding the path to the privileged locations
We have even switched laptops and she still has this problem. Perhaps it has something to do with the license?
The Adobe Acrobat Pro version is 2023.006.20360 64-bit.

Hi @NickDijk
Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.
Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.
If your file/asset is in a folder that is synced with Google Drive, Drop Box, One drive or the like. Simply quit the backup/sync utility and then hit save on the file. Note: "Pausing" the sync may not allow a file save. You must quit the sync app.
Let us know how it goes.
Regards
Amal

Hello Amal,
Thank you for your reply.
This is an issue with all the PDFs. The files are indeed stored on a shared network and if we copy them locally the problem doesn't occur.
We all have the same rights on the network share though, and we use the same version of Adobe yet only she has this problem.
We don't use any form of cloud storage service.

Hi there
thanks for sharing the information, as the issue only occurs on the shared network and with a particular user and not otherwise, it looks like the network settings issue. Please try to check her network settings.
