Hello, this issue started a few weeks ago and seems to be affecting more people by the day. Hoping for help or ideas (or even confirmation from others that their experience is similar?):
1. It seems that when opening PDF files in SharePoint through Windows File Explorer, we are no longer prompted to 'check out and open' the file. You can edit the file and save the changes without check out but if someone else tries to open the file during that time, they get the URL error below.
2. Many employees are now getting URL errors when trying to open any PDF in SharePoint through windows file explorer. Most of the time, if they click 'ok' to the error and then try opening the file again, it will open and allow them to edit (without prompting to check out). This URL error does not occur if they open the PDF in Edge browser.
Error message = "The URL you have provided could not be reached. Please verify that the URL is correct and that the network location is reachable"
This issue is for Adobe Acrobat Pro (both 32 and 64 bit - continous release) but is inconsistent, some employees get the error every time, other employees only get it occasionally or never.

Thank you Tariq for the reply and suggestions!
I have not been able to find anyone else online with the URL error for PDF files in SharePoint so I'm thinking the issue must be something local. Below is a list of things I have tried including your suggestions but the URL error still occurs the first time opening a file, even when using the 'Other File Storage' shortcut to SharePoint in Adobe Acrobat. Once you click 'OK', the error will not occur for another few minutes unless you close Acrobat and then re-open.
TRIED THE FOLLOWING:
- Setup 'other file storage' shortcut to SharePoint content (once setup it works but if I close and reopen Acrobat, the shortcut gives error first time opening any PDF file)
- Added Hosts, Folders, and Files to the Privleged Locations
- Turned off Protected Mode in Acrobat
- Turned off Enhanced Security in Acrobat
- Added Defender AV exclusions for the Acrobat.exe process, all pdf file types, and the folder location in SharePoint
- Added sites to 'Trusted Sites' in Internet Settings of Windows (Trusted sites set to 'Low')
- Happens in various locations on various internet connections (with and without company VPN) but not everyone
- Windows 10 Enterprise 64 bit, 22H2 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 2024.002.21005
- We even tested Acrobat 2017 and 2020 but the same issue

Sorry for the delayed response. I hope you already have found a solution to the problem.
Would try re-adding the SharePoint again as storage in Acrobat: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/access-sharepoint-files.html
Also, you may try adding the SharePoint path as a Privileged location under Security(enhanced) Preferences.
Adding the location of the file to the Privileged location: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/enhanced-security-setting-pdfs.html
Let us know if that helps.

Thanks for getting back. Yes, It seems to be local on your end.
Have you tried checking this library setting: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/set-up-a-library-to-require-check-out-of-files-0c73792b-f...
