Adobe Acrobat refuses to open certain files

Explorer ,
Jan 25, 2020 Jan 25, 2020

Been going through this now for well over a year now. Only return to it every quarter when I need to deal with my taxes.

So here I am wasting minutes which turn in to hours trying to figure out a fix. Bad enough that Creative Cloud's taking an eternity to uninstall it right now.

Any solutions? Some files open up and others end up crashing the app with no warnings. Some of these new files were created based on old ones which open up with no problem.

Already trying getting Adobe's attention through other means. 'and about ready to reinstall the program again.

Hi,

I just posted a list of troubleshooting suggestions for another user in this thread: : https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/acrobat-will-not-stay-open/m-p/10880852#M238080

You haven't specified your Operating system and version of Acrobat or Reader that you're using.

If you're using MS Windows 10 the suggestions are pretty much a standard procedure for any other versions of windows.

And if you're using macOS the same logic applies.

If you're using a paid subscription for Acrobat, and if you don't have other Adobe products installed that are strictly dependent on Document Cloud collaboration services and/or Creative Cloud services, uninstall the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app.

For troubleshooting purposes you can use the full offline stand alone installer  of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (if this is the version that you're using of course). Then follow the suggested recommendations in the thread I linked above.

Get Adobe Acrobat Pro full offline installer from here:  https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html

If the installtion is successful using this method, sign in from Adobe Acrobat Pro DC with your AdobeID to activate your subscription.

Even though is discouraged, you don't need the CC Desktop app to have full blown working installation of Acrobat in your computer (some may disagree, but don't tske my word for it... see for yourself)
