Try rebooting your system. IF that doesn't work, open control panel > programs > select Acrobat and chose the option to repair installation.

OK. How have you licensed the product? Did you purchase Acrobat stand alone or was it part of the Creative Suite products?

Not an answer, this is just say I have the same problem only difference is I'm on windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, tried repair/ re-install and nothing, Distiller does show its splash screen then crashes, and I bought it as part of the Creative suite 6 Web Design premium, all other programs are running, if I get an answer I will post for you. regards, Les2Bee x

Yeppers this seems to have fixed the problem, bravo. Thanks so much as I've been to twitter adobecares & I even tried real live aodbe tech support where I was refused tech support (I'm a user group manager) but the address with my acct wasn't matching up with my adobe acct. which I've had for years. I dunno. Hey I just use & promote the products.

So I'd just given up on getting acrobat pro ever working and have been using Foxit reader instead.

anyways, blah blah, installing this zip file seems to have made my Acrobat come back to life. However, I only installed it but didn't do the deactivate / activate steps.

I've also tried that solution and it didn't work. When I open my task manager, I see AcroRd32.exe running but it stays like that.

I'm on Windows 7, latest update. On my browser (Chrome) the plugin seems to run fine.

And I have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader XI.

I guess I'll have to make a local page to load up PDF on my browser instead.....................

For Reader, ask in the Reader forum. There is no Acrobat Reader XI. It is either Reader (free) or Acrobat (full cost product).

hypertje123,

Not sure if you solved this but I had a similar issue with acrobat Pro XI on Win 8.1 x64. Tried all the fixes I could find nothing that worked.  I finally found, quite by accident, that compatibility mode on the application had been set for Windows 7 after the last update. I unchecked it and it has worked fine since...
