I just re-installed my Acrobat DC on my HP Laptop.  I was able to edit PDF with this program no problem until the re-install.  Now whenever I click on Edit PDF i get "Adobe has encountered and unknown error"

Anyone have help for this?  I checked other forum answers - they all date from last year and none of those solutions have worked...example document attached...

Please help?

Hi there

We are sorry for the trouble. As described you are getting the error: unknown error occurred while editing the PDF

please try the following steps and see if that works:

Print the PDF using "Adobe PDF". Edit this newly created PDF instead of the original one.

Steps:

1. Go to File -> Print. (Ctrl + P)

2. Select "Adobe PDF" as the printer.

3. Click Print. Save to any desired location when prompted.

4. Open the new PDF.

5. Edit.

Let us know if that helps.

Regards

Amal

Hallo zusammen,

There is no possibility for me to choose "adobe pdf-printer". I only can choose my own regular printer.

Hi Buzz_sapien,

Thank you for reaching out.

In addition to the steps provided above, please try creating a test PDF from word file and check if you receive the same error message.

Also, please confirm if you created the PDF ot received as it seems to be the PDF specific issue.

When we check the document properties, it shows the PDF was not created using the Adobe PDF maker.

We will be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Hi there. I am having the exact same problem this user describes. I tried all of the suggested work  around fixes to no avail.

I frequently have to sign documents and add in my title and date. I am perfectly able to add my signature, but when I hover over another section and attempt to add text I get the same error "the operation failed because Adobe Acrobat encountered an unknown error." Please help!!

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described, you are able to add the signature but when you try to add the text you get the following error "the operation failed because Adobe Acrobat encountered an unknown error."

Would you mind sharing the steps you are doing to sign the PDF?

Please try to add the text first and then try to sign the PDF in the end and see if that works for you,

Have you created this PDF file or have you got it from a different user? Please try the following steps and see if that helps.

Open the PDF > Go to Tool >  Protect > Remove Hidden information. Once done Click on Close and then try to do the fill and sign and check.
