ADOBE BAD

My daughter works for a large multinational corporation and says they have issues every day because of Adobe Acrobat not working. It's gotten so bad she says that a friend of hers inside the company said regarding the California fires, "I hope Addobe HQ is burning," and her 2 year old son goes around saying, "ADOBE BAD."

I have the full DC version and often resort to free programs like PDF24 to do things I can't get to work on Adobe. Even Microsoft Edge, which I hate and wish I could remove from Windows, works better at opening PDF files than Acrobat.

No doubt, nobody at Adobe is listening or cares. I mainly wanted to pass on what the 2-year olds are saying, "ADOBE BAD." LOL! Out of the mouth of babes....

Hi k15A7,

I can completely relate to the frustration you and your daughter are experiencing with Adobe Acrobat. I faced similar issues when managing files for my website, where I often work with large PDF guides and documents for my research work.

I also some times, encountered frequent crashes and unresponsive features in Adobe Acrobat. After some trial and error, here’s how I managed to solve these problems:

Switching to Lightweight Alternatives:

Like you, I found that Adobe Acrobat struggles with performance for certain tasks. I started using tools like PDF24 for basic PDF editing and compression. It’s lightweight and works perfectly for smaller tasks.

Using Browser-Based PDF Readers:

Surprisingly, browsers like Safari on Mac or Microsoft Edge on Windows often outperform Acrobat for simple tasks like viewing and annotating PDFs. I even use these tools to open game documentation related to Subway Surfers.

Optimizing Adobe Acrobat:

1-Update to the latest version from Help > Check for Updates. Adobe frequently patches issues in newer releases.

2-Clear the cache under Preferences > Security (Enhanced) > Clear Cache. This significantly improved performance for me.

3-Disable startup plug-ins under Edit > Preferences > General.

If you’d like to see how I manage digital content seamlessly while working on my website, feel free to check out this page . It’s a testament to how optimizing tools can streamline workflows!

I hope these tips help you as much as they helped me. Let me know if you’d like further details on any of these solutions, 😊

Hi @k15A7:

Is it wrong to admit that the part about your grandson made me laugh?

But seriously, I'd recommend your daughter reach out to us directly and list her specific issues. We can't troubleshoot her issues through you (or your grandson, yet), but it's possible we can offer solutions for her (and her colleague's) issues. However, we can't help if we don't know what they are.

And if you have issues opening up PDFs in Acrobat that open in Edge, please come back and share the details and screen shots. The user-to-user forums are staffed by volunteeers who are experts in their field and vetted by Adobe to represent them here (look for the words Community Expert under our names, and the purple/white star on our avatar). While we can't fix software issues, we are daily users and deal with the same things all users deal with. We often have workflow suggestions and tips that can ease the pain of working with any Adobe software application.

Not possible. Her corporation has a tech department responsible for making everything work and she is not able to modify software or do updates, etc. I am sure they are connected and doing everything they can to make it work.
