Adobe converts CADD files to PDF

When I try to open Altium or CADD files, they are automatically given a .pdf suffix. When I try to open them in Adobe, I get the message, Adobe could not open, e.g., "1602 Controller.PrjPcb" because it is not a supported file type... Is there a setting in Adobe or Windows to prevent this?

that's an os system issue.

google your os and how fix that.  eg, https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/cannot-choose-what-file-format-i-want-to-save-...

or just manually change the file type to the correct type after downloading
