I can't open any documents anymore, the desktop version crashs before the document fully opens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Help! I pay for the upgrade, and am not able to use the product!

Hope you are doing well and am sorry for the delay in response.
As described the application is crashing before the document opens. Would you mind sharing the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 22.1.20117 (Win) Installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.
Also, try to reset the Acrobat preferences https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau...
You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win and try using the application there and check.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled and rebooted by PC several times, with no luck. The desktop version closes before the software even fully loads. How can I check the version or check for updates when the software does not open?

We are sorry to hear that, would you mind sharing the version of the OS you are using? Please try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Windows or enable the root account in MAc and try using the application there and check.
