Good Afternoon Adobe Peeps,
I have a client who uses Acrobat DC Pro 2022.002.20212 and Outlook build 1808.10390.20024
If Adobe Document Cloud for Microsoft Outlook is enabled and they attempt to drag an email into a task or use the Windows File Explorer through "Attach Files" Outlook crashes and two dumps are created.
I have attached a copy of a screenshot I created within my Outlook which does not have this issue as I do not use that Add-in. However same results if I use the add-in on a different system.
Can an Adobe Software Engineer help us all out here?

Hi,
I am also experiencing a similar issue with Acrobat DC Pro 2022.003.20258 and Microsoft® Outlook® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2208 Build 16.0.15601.20148) 64-bit.
If the Adobe Document Cloud for Microsoft Outlook Add In is enabled and I attempt to drag an email into a task, Outlook crashes. The same happens when I enable email encryption & signature for a draft in Outlook, then attach a file to the draft and cancel the PIN entry prompt. Without the Adobe Document Cloud for Microsoft Outlook Add In, there is no PIN entry prompt.
Windows event log lists two entries, namely:
Faulting application name: OUTLOOK.EXE, version: 16.0.15601.20148, time stamp: 0x631abd02
Faulting module name: ucrtbase.dll, version: 10.0.19041.789, time stamp: 0x2bd748bf

Faulting package-relative application ID:
And (roughly translated from German):
There was an error running the add-in. Outlook crashed during the 'AttachmentAdd' callback of the 'ItemEvents' interface when calling the add-in 'Adobe Document Cloud for Microsoft Outlook - Acrobat'.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Justin, thanks for reporting the issue. The engineering team is currently working on it and will be fixed in the upcoming updates.
Thanks.

Hi Justin,
What are your thoughts on a mechanism that informs interested users when this or anything reported in here is fixed? If there's already one in place, please let me know?
Fortunately Justin and Julia included much troubleshooting info.
Thanks!

Hey there,
It's 2024, any updates on the SendAsLink upgrades? I can send you more crash logs, screenshares, screenshots, system enviroment logs, debug reports etc.

Thank you for troubleshooting.
We experienced this issue as well and have a lot of internal complaints.
@Alok Kr Please go ahead and fix this. There are 3000 users afffected by this in our case. We need to remove this Addin for every user and will probably never activate it again after this problem.

To deactivate this weird Adobe Addin with the Name "Adobe Document Cloud for Microsoft Outlook - Acrobat" set the following registry key:
Set the LoadBehavior = 0
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\AdobeAcroOutlook.SendAsLink

Is there an update on this issue?
My outlook keeps crashing with this add-in

Update to the community:
After calling support again, as my clients are growing very tired of this issue, there has been no movement on the dev team to fixed this poorly coded add-on. I am currently working my client to find an alternative solution since Adobe has made no commitment to reslove this issue. As seen here there are over 300 users effected in one company alone.
We're looking at large sending with OneDrive and we're evaluating other PDF editing solutions.
I understand the dev team has a lot of work to do all around, so it is nothing agaisnt Adobe, but now it is time review other solutions given that this is not a priority issue for them but it is for many of our clients.

We've been testing the Microsoft/OneDrive option and it worked very well. Infact, I felt that the Adobe cloud solution is redundant since the OneDrive option id built into Outlook
We are considering removing the Adobe add-in from Outlook alltogether. It's 2023 and we are on Windows 11 and these kind if issues should be fixed at no time.

By the way, disabling the Acrobat plug-in in outlook speed up the Outlook startup tremendously.
1. Open registry and locate: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\
2. Change the value in "LoadBehavior" from 3 to 2
3. Close the registry
4. Restart Outlook

My apologies, the correct key in the registry is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\ PDFMOutlook.PDFMOutlook

OP Here
After working with Adobe in 2022, I was basically told that the SendAsLink is not something they care about.
I am working with our clients to find an alternative solution to Adobe Acrobat.
And now 2 years later, with many version updated SendAsLink remains the same and ignored. Some clients prefer to this OneDrive despite our pushing to use OneDrive Links. They always reply the same "We pay for the software, how can they ignore us ..... maybe you aren't trying hard enough"
