I thought by default you create a box around the words or sentences you want to highlight and then select highlight, Acrobat will highlight for you.
Instead, I get a circle which I have to be careful how to highlight. I would like to be able to highlight a block of text at once. Is this not possible?

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out.
Generally, you get the text selection cursor when you select the Highlight text tool in the PDF. That way you can select the text block at once and it will get highlighted.
As you have mentioned above, you get the circle to highlight the text. Please confirm if you are highlighting the scanned PDF.
Share the application and OS version on the machine.
Let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

Hi.Thanks for the speedy reply.
I am using a scanned document. I think I may have found the issue.
In other PDF editors I have used I'm always warned when attempting to highlight text that isn't recognized via OCR.
For whatever reason, this feature is missing in Acrobat. I had Adobe recognize the document and afterwards the circle disappeared. Now I know, but still, I would think such a high-end application would be more user friendly than it is. That's why I personally prefer Foxit myself.
