After upgrading to Win11, Pro 9 unstable

Hello,

I recently upgraded my Dell laptop from Win10 to Win11. Ever since, Acrobat Pro 9 (purchased DVD) has become unstable.  I will be working for about a half hour or so with 3-4 pdf documents open when Pro will freeze for 30-40 seconds, spinning blue circle of death and then it closes.  Sometimes it saves most of my work, sometimes not. Also, when I am clicking links inside a document, it will flash a progress bar in the lower right corner titled "Sorting System Fonts".  Even rthough this is blinking fast,  this slows the progress of the link and I have to click it again. Next page, it does it again.  I have gone into Preferences and unchecked the "Use local fonts', but these two errors are not only very annoying, but they are slowing down my production.  Please Help!

This is not surprising, since Acrobat 9 is a very old version, not compatible with any current OS.

Your best course of action is to make sure that it's updated to the latest available version (9.5.5, I believe) and run it in Compatibility Mode with an earlier OS, like Windows 7.

Thank you for taking the time to answer.  My apologies for not replying sooner.

As I am dead set against ANY subscription for software, I took a few days and found a brand-new, in the box copy of Acrobat Pro 2015 DC on eBay. I purchased it and loaded it, and after using it for 3-4 days I can report that it is MUCH more stable than my old Version 9.  A few features I am not fond of, but I can work with them.

One thing I have noted is that it appears to be unable to open browsers.  When I click on a URL in a document, I get this popup:adobe 2015 error.jpg

I believe this is a plug-in issue. I will be researching this more.

Again, I apreciate your help and advice.

Jim

If this is the only issue, count your blessings. Also, I hope you got a legit copy. Were you able to register it with Adobe?
