AI Assistant and Japanese Language Support

New Here ,

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I subscribed to Adobe Studio and uploaded a scanned PDF (Japanese text with OCR) to my PDF Space. I received the error: “File language isn’t supported.”

Can anyone confirm whether the Adobe AI Assistant supports Japanese and other East Asian languages? Based on the product description, I thought it would. If support is available, is there a way to enable or configure it so that my file will be recognized correctly?

I’d really appreciate guidance on how to resolve this. Thanks in advance!

@140592852890 Yes, Adobe's AI Assistant does support Japanese. According to the official Adobe help pages, the generative AI features in Document Cloud, including the AI Assistant.

You mentioned that you uploaded the PDF to your "PDF Space." According to Adobe's documentation and recent reports, the PDF Spaces feature is currently only supported in English. This is likely the reason for the error message. It seems that while the core AI Assistant can process Japanese, the container you are using to manage the document (PDF Spaces) does not yet support it. Your error message "File language isn’t supported" likely came from the PDF Spaces feature, not the AI Assistant itself. Bypass PDF Spaces by opening the file directly in Acrobat to use the AI Assistant's Japanese language capabilities.

You were right, thank you! The AI Assistant is working, so it must have been an issue with PDF Space. I do wonder whether Adobe will eventually implement support for East Asian languages there. I just tried the regular AI Assistant with a longer PDF in Japanese and it seems to struggle with heavier files, so having a PDF Space tool for that would be very helpful.
