Whenever I open any document, the entire page flickers like a strobe light so I can't read anything. The navigation bars stay still, it's just the content that flickers. The content is just a scanned document. Sometimes pressing ESC makes it stop, but it returns shortly after

Sounds like a video driver / GPU problem. First, try seeing if there is any updated driver for your AMD video card. If not or if an updated video card driver doesn't help, try turning off GPU preferences in Acrobat and see if that fixes the problem.

How do you turn off GPU preferences in Acrobat? I don't see that anywhere. Using Mac Ventura 13.6.3

This is mostly seen in systems without any GPUs. Monitor color profile and iGPU are bottlenecking in this case.

Solution:

  1. Set threshhold transition framerate to 30fps (con: RAM consumption may increase by 2-3 MB per 100 MB pdf file)
  2. For no GPU/ iGPU systems use Software based rendering instead of DirectX.
  3. Set Monitor colour profile to sRGB.icm or sRGB.cdmp or scRGB.cdmp or use my colour profile. Restart yoir PC. You should see noticable difference now.
  4. PRIMARY/ONLY SOLUTION is to install a dedicated GPU for your PC. This removes the problem completely.

NOTE: 1, 2 & 3 are temporary solution.

I have attached my sRGB.icm (.icm are ICC profile and they are best) colour profiles here: "https://ln4.sync.com/dl/ca43fd730/actxknji-3t3c5krs-ifagdfin-bppsxinh". Open colorcpl.exe (Microsoft Colour management profile control) and load the files. You are all set.

Cause:

  1. Monitor Color profile mismatch with iGPU.
  2. Calibration error.
  3. GPU rendering problem(old GPU).

hello, sounds I'm so late to reply but I will give it a try, I followed that solution from @Archisman Karmakar to solve my problem which is Flickering "when I copy and try to paste" in the PDF file,

So, I added his profile and removed all I'm allowed to remove (pictures attached) , and the problem solved for me so far

Thank you

It is 2023, I'm on a MacBook Pro M2, Sonoma 14.2.1, and Acrobat Pro up to date as of today.

Flicker is still around. It's a file-by-file case: Some docs flicker like a strobe and must be closed; others only when switching pages. And even for one that strobes: If I close and come back, no strobe.

Hi @tlmurray23

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

Make sure you have the recent version 23.08.20470 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates an reboot the computer once.

Also go to Preferences (Cmd,Ctrl+K) > General > Set Scale for screen resolution to 'Auto Detect' and reboot the application once .  also go to Page Display in preferences and select 'Use system settings' under Resolution and click OK.
