Application crashes every time I try to search text

My Acrobat (Pro) DC is crashing every time I CTRL+F to search text. The search box appears...but as I start typing I will get in 1 or 2 letters before it stops and is stuck on the "wait" circle. It won't complete, and I have to typically have to exit Adobe all together. I'm getting this with all files I've tried. I use creative cloud. This has been going on for about a week.
