I am applying redactions to documents, and this is causing the headers and footers to be completely removed. I need to keep the the headers and footers as they contain important information (i.e. page numbers) that I need to remain on the document.
Is there any way to apply the redactions without causing the header and footer text to be removed from the PDF?

Hi,
So your gameplan is going to be this.
1. Choose Redact text and images.
2. Then press the Ctrl (win)/Cmd (mac) and drag over the areas you'd like to redact.

Hi,
This is a possible scenario: If you are applying redactions to a multi-page document and you select over the page bounds, that will select your header and footer info.
Select content a page at a time and apply your redactions.

Ok, now we're getting somewhere. Deposition transcripts have line numbers in the left margins to allow the judge and attorneys to follow along to specific citations to the record. When I'm selecting multiple lines (but not all) one a page, the selection necessarily includes the lines numbers in the left margin. When I apply, everything from the headers and footers (and margins I realized) are removed. Line numbers in the margins that are not marked for redaction are deleted as well as the header, footer, including the page number.
Any thoughts on how to avoid this? Right now I can only think of readacting the lines of testimony one by one, and not including the page numbers from the left margin.

this doesn't work. it still removes the header and footer, including page number.

Hope you are doing well. Thanks for writing in!
If the PDF does not have any interactive elements, and the sole purpose for you is to remove certain areas of the PDF, why not try printing the file to PDF again? This will flatten the PDF file, thus making the headers and footers a part of the page content. To do so:
Open the document before redacting.
Go to File > Print.
Choose Adobe PDF as the printer.
In Advanced Settings, set Print as Image if available.
Click Print and save the file.
Once done, try the same workflow and let us know if it helps.
