Bates Numbering in Acrobat

Does anyone know of any way to move Bates numbering around a page, and not just restricted to header and footer?

Or does anyone know which software is used for printing CBF (coloured paper), job numbering?

A script can be written to apply the Bates number at any location on the page. 

However, the built-in Bates numbering can be adjusted to do this as well. The concept of Header/Footer is rather loose, there's no background. It's totally transparent.
