Boxes / dotted lines when printing... not in the design

Hello,

Attached image shows the problem I run in to when printing. You can see the lines appear around every shark as shown in the example. The design itself does not show these lines... Shark were cut out via photoshop, saved as psd files and linked into illustrator (not embedded).

Just bought a new printer (Xerox phaser 7800) and this first print came out like this.

Hoping anyone has experience with this. I'm used to this happening the other way round for me: Acrobat show the lines, but they don't print.

Many thanks

What PDF file standard version did you use?

You should use PDF/X4 for high quality output.

One problem may be that the fish-files are not properly cut out. Check at that level too.

Abambo,

Yes i'm using PDF/X4.

It seems this problem only occurred on this printer, my regular office printer does not print with this problem.

Could it have something to do with my color calibration on the printer. Puzzled....?

What happens with "print as image"? Please note that's only a workaround and for testing, not a solution.

Without all the files involved (including the Photoshop files and the Illustrator file in which they are placed), there is really not much we can do to ascertain what is really going on here.
