Bring back the title bar (v23.0)

This new version of Acrobat (among other issues) has removed the title bar and just has tabs at the top.

This is anoying for 2 reasons – tabs are a set width so even just regular length filenames aren't visible, let alone long ones. If you're working with file names with job codes its just about enough to fit that and not much else. Since the title bar has been removed you can't see the full file name at the top like usual. It seems like it's fine for people who call their files "Brochure.pdf" but not for people who actually do work. I'm perplexed at how this wasn't noticed when testing this new version.

The other issue it presents is it breaks standard MacOS funtionality. When you export a PDF from Indesign, you can no longer hover and grab the icon to drag it somewhere, like another folder, email or Workfront. This is the more annoying issue as this is part of a workflow that I use for every single PDF I export.

In Acrobat related forums the most popular answer right now is to go back to the old interface:

I agree, very frustrating, i used to use that feature every day where i could drag the icon into workfront and and into other folders. Now it's gone and it adds more time to things i'm doing. Not fun!

Another issue with this is that you cannot Command-click/hold on the title to see the bird's trail of the file's location. Regrettably, a number of software titles have the Title Bar but have not implemented this functionality that's been around since before System 9 (OS).

So, yes. As @JR Boulay, says, go back to the Old UI.

You are correct, and that's exactly the suggestion that JR Boulay suggested.

+1 vote to bring the title bar back.  The title bar:

  • Helps the user keep track of mutliple windows.
  • Gives dedicated space to "grab" the window to move it.
  • Informs the user of what applications are running.  I had to go to Menu > Help just to see what app my PDFs were opening in.
