Bring document properties to the front when PDF is active

My issue might be a bit niche, but I'll give it a go:

Using MacOS, I work with PDFs that I cycle through looking for different words or strings of text, over and over within the same document. As a general rule I use keyboard shortcuts to navigate, and I typically do so pretty quickly for this task. Obviously one of the most frequent shortcuts I use is Command+F to bring up the Find field.

However, if my fingers are a tiny bit off I sometimes hit both the F and the D key, I assume within literally milliseconds of each other. I'm not 100% clear what order I connect with them as it's really hard to replicate, and I've had to try over and over again to work out what's happening, but I'm fairly sure it's likely to be the F key, then the D key.

The outcome of this is that the Document Properties and the Find field both pop up at the same time. The PDF remains the active window, with the Document Properties box sitting over the front of it. I can navigate the PDF as normal -- it's like the PDF treats the Doc Prop's box as if it's not even there -- but it's obviously not practical to navigate a PDF doc with a big box sitting across the front of it. Screenshot attached to try to illustrate what's happening.

I can't find a keyboard shortcut that switches from the PDF to the Document Properties window, to make it active so I can use the keyboard to close or escape out of it. My only option seems to be using the mouse or trackpad, which is annoying as it slows my progress.

This same issue has always happened, across multiple Acrobat versions.

Does anyone have any idea what the keyboard shortcut would be for this, or if there even is one for Mac? I've tested every possible combination that I can think of, across the whole keyboard, but nothing works.

Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi there,

Hope you're doing well, and thanks for reaching out and sharing the issue.

I tested this on a Windows machine using the latest version of Acrobat (25.01.20566), and I was able to close the 'Document Properties' pop-up by pressing the Esc key.

Could you please check which version of Acrobat you're using?
You can find it by going to Help > About Acrobat.

If it’s not the latest version (25.01.20566), please update it by going to Help > Check for Updates, then restart your computer.

Let us know if that helps

@md3474 I am on a MAC (thanks @Amal.  — hopefully, I can help here?). IF I have the 'Find' box and the 'Document Properties' open, I click on the 'Esc' to to quickly cancel the 'Document Properties' pop-up box. Click on 'Esc' again, and the 'Find' box will also go away.
