Button templates?

I'm looking for a way to automate button creation. There's two functions I'm looking for. First is the ability to save a button layout to a template, so that I can import it into another PDF document without re-building all the buttons. Second is to build a set of typical navigation buttons that I could drop in place, then enter an external link target. I create these documents in other software, and print to PDF - and every time there's an update done in the source software, I print a new PDF and then have to rebuild the buttons all over again.

Is there a function in Acrobat that will do this? Thanks!
