Can no longer edit certain pdf documents

When I try to edit invoices, I get these overlapping boxes that don't allow me to edit specific text.  This just started happening when I try to edit invoices.  If I save an excel spreadsheet to pdf, I can edit.  I used to get a "box" around each specific field but now it looks like this -

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 24.01.20615 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.
 
Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

If it still doesn't work, please share the PDF in question so we can check it further at our end.
