Can one use Acrobat Reader on a computer that has Acrobat?

I have Acrobat Pro.  It opens slowly, so I'd like to use Reader to read PDFs instead.  However, attempts to install Reader lead to a message that it is already installed.  Seems to me this is Adobe's way of saying one can't have both.  Is that the case?

Hi TonyCzar,

Thank you for reaching out.

Adobe now provides a unified installer for Acrobat and Acrobat Reader (64 bit). If you install Acrobat Reader and have a subscription, it will automatically update to the Acrobat version once you sign in. Using both applications on a single machine at once is not possible.

For more information, refer to the following help document: https://adobe.ly/3G5G50e,

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Meenakshi
